BEC COLE
“Hi I’m Bec (she/her) — a trauma-informed yoga teacher and clinical psychologist.
I had practiced yoga on and off for years, but began a regular practice in 2019 as a way to de-stress during my psychology training, drawn to strong vinyasa flows paired with lyric-based music. Over time, yoga became a practice that helped me reconnect with my body and nervous system, and eventually led me to complete my 200-hour teacher training in Rishikesh, India, with a focus on Vinyasa, Hatha, and Pranayama.
I began teaching free community classes in Edinburgh Gardens, which later grew into Refract Yoga Practice — a beginner-friendly Sunday yoga offering in Brunswick. Refract was an inclusive, welcoming space focused on community, playfulness, and making yoga feel enjoyable and accessible — especially for neurodivergent, chronically ill, and queer people, whose experiences often overlap. The sense of community, familiar faces, and post-yoga coffees and chats were a highlight for me and remain central to how I approach teaching.

I now teach across Melbourne’s inner-north and feel very grateful to hold a regular Sunday morning spot at Eve — a full-circle moment after first teaching Sunday classes in the park.
My classes blend mindful movement, somatic awareness, simple yoga education, and opportunities to release tension. With consent, I enjoy offering hands-on adjustments and gentle relaxation touch. I bring humour and lightness to my teaching, encouraging students to explore the balance between effort and ease. As an extrovert with ADHD, I’m always up for a chat after class.
